Pentecost 2017

Jesus Christ calls every person to follow him. As Christians it’s our duty and joy to share that invitation. That’s why the Archbishops of Canterbury and York are inviting every church in England to join a week of prayer this Pentecost, from 28th May - 4th June.

Between 28th May and 4th June, communities and churches around the world are gathering together to pray that their friends, families and neighbours come to know Jesus Christ. Prayer events of all shapes and sizes will take place across the 7 days, including 24-7 prayer rooms, prayer days, prayer walks and half nights of prayer. Cathedrals, churches and other venues will host Beacon Events, gathering people across towns and cities to worship and to pray for the empowering of the Holy Spirit for effective witness.

To launch the week of prayer we’ll be hosting a service of prayer and praise here at SMB on Sunday 28th May, 6.30pm. The event will see churches across Canterbury coming together to worship Jesus and pray for our city together.

24-7 Prayer Room

After our Prayer and Praise Celebration on the 28th May, the doors to our 24hr prayer room will be opened! We would like to encourage as many of you as possible to sign up and join in. The room will be transformed into a space that will inspire you to pray. You can have a go with the activities that will be set up, come, sit and read the Bible, sing worship, pray in silence, or anything in between.

To sign up for an hour slot of prayer throughout the week, click the button below. You can sign up on your own, in groups, or feel free to join others.
