SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
Discipleship is “Choosing to walk in the steps of Jesus in every area of our lives, every day.”
As a church we are committed to seeing people become disciples of Jesus and to step into this lifestyle where we walk with Jesus to see ourselves transformed more and more into his likeness (2 Cor 3.18).
The School of Discipleship is about deepening our faith beyond the shallow experiences of God we may be used to and learning to draw deeply in the presence of God to equip, encourage and edify us for daily life and witness to Him.
The Associate Vicar has responsibility for oversight of the School of Discipleship. The different areas include:
We have a rolling programme of mini-schools of discipleship to enable us to deepen our faith as we look at different topics – from doctrine to theology, ethics and deeper Bible studies – and think about how we apply these to our lives. There is approximately one a term and are usually 3-4 weeks long, or a one-off Saturday school.
In a one off Saturday school, Peter Ould will explore with us the book of Deuteronomy.
We'll look at where it fits in the Bible, when and whom it was written by, what it contains and how it is full of allusions to the future work of Christ.
