Harvey Family

We live and serve in a town in the Nile Delta with our four small children, where we lead the local Anglican Church and serve the diocese in a number of ways.  Our town is 99% Muslim and we are passionate about reaching our neighbours with the gospel. We also love working with and discipling local believers in our church and seeing them grow in faith and shining Christ’s light.  Day to day we are able to support the work of the Diocese thorough our involvement in the Anglican school, which our children also attend, and the church-run hospital.

LOVED
MBALE, UGANDA

LOVED

My name is Bex Henderson and I am currently living in Mbale, Uganda working with JENGA CDO.

JENGA runs a huge variety of different sustainable projects, one of which is called LOVED Children’s Centre.

LOVED provides a safe space during the daytime for vulnerable children below 3 years, who are facing challenges such as malnutrition, substance abuse or neglect due to their disability. Whilst the children are at LOVED, we work to empower and equip parents with skills so that they can sustainably provide for their families.

My role as founder of LOVED has been to fundraise support for the project as well as to equip our amazing project manager and team with skills on early years development.

Jenga
Mbale, Uganda

Jenga

JENGA Uganda was founded in 2005 when a Ugandan Pastor and a British businessman came together over a shared vision of God’s love for the people of Uganda. Since then, they’ve invested their hearts, skills and lives into the community development ministry of JENGA in and around Mbale-town. JENGA operates over 40 varied, community development projects aimed at strengthening local society and offering a practical, tangible representation of God’s love to the people they impact.

Martin Hayter
Uganda

Martin Hayter

Martin and Lillian have been called to serve the very poorest and most marginalised people in Uganda. Climate change, the covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have had a devastating impact on these people and on the local churches and indigenous organisations seeking to help them. Martin and Lillian serve on the leadership team of a local church as it shares and lives out the Gospel in the Namatala slum in word, sign and deed. Martin also works closely with key church leaders who oversee large numbers of churches in the land of Karamoja as increasing numbers come to faith. Martin is also working to strengthen the funding base of Child of Hope, a Christian charity providing free education and holistic services to the poorest children and their parents, with a particular focus on enabling the organisation to generate funds locally through a variety of businesses and agricultural projects.

Please pray: for Martin and Lillian as they begin their married life together and for their boys, Emmanuel, Deogratias, and Jonathan; for fruitful discipleship amongst the new believers in the growing churches in Karamoja; for the schools providing free education to the very poorest children;  for the various businesses and agricultural projects, and that greater local sustainability of the churches and schools would be achieved.
