Prayer

Canterbury Abbey’s vision is to see the Kingdom of God established and grown in Canterbury, East Kent and beyond. Just as God did it before, through St Augustine and the work of St Augustine’s Abbey, so we pray he might do it again in our day and in our time (Habakkuk 3:2).

The Local Prayer Meeting is an outworking of this vision with the people of God who live in a particular area gathering on the 4th Monday of each month from 7:30-8pm, to pray for that place and for the people in that place. We believe that God has called us to the streets we live on and to be his witnesses in our neighbourhoods and to our neighbours, witnesses to the good news of salvation (Rom 10:13-15). Believing the teaching of Jesus that unless people are born again, they cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).
